Spending Avios
Use your Avios to cover the full cost of any Aer Lingus flight when you book through aerlingus.com. You can also spend your Avios on Reward flights on avios.com, on hotels, car hire, experiences and Business Class upgrades to and from the US and Canada. The choices are endless.
Log in to your AerClub account.
Choose your preferred Avios discount from the options displayed on the payment page.
Pay in part or in full for the cost of your flight while still earning Tier Credits and Avios.
Options for any eligible flight will be shown automatically as long as you are logged in and have a sufficient Avios balance in your AerClub account. Your discount options will depend on your Avios balance and the total cost of your journey. The price of your flight will adjust automatically based on your chosen discount.
Pay with Avios cannot be used to;
(i) pay for third party ancillaries, for example, DAA Fast Track, DAA Car Parking,
(ii) pay for the addition of other passengers to an existing booking,
(iii) pay for bookings which contain a codeshare segment,
(iv) pay for bookings through one of our customer contact centres,
(v) discount the purchase price of flights or ancillaries in existing bookings, or
(vi) discount any fees related to making changes to an existing booking or discount any booking for 7 or more people (i.e. the maximum number of passengers in one booking that can be paid for using Pay with Avios is six people).

The way you book Reward Flights is being improved and changing soon, enabling you to book Reward Flights through AerLingus.com instead of Avios.com.
- You will be able to view your itinerary, check-in online, add seats and additional bags when you log into Manage My Booking on Aerlingus.com and at the kiosk at the airport.
- For changes and cancellations you can Chat with us online.
- You will be unable to book connecting flights or Reward Flights operated by British Airways or Iberia. However these will become available in the future.
- Any existing Reward Flights booked on Avios.com will remain unaffected. For any changes to these flights you can Chat with us online.

Can I add seats or bags to my Avios reward bookings?
A 20kg bag and a 10kg carry-on bag are included on Avios reward flights, but it is possible to purchase a seat preference, an additional bag or special equipment by contacting Aer Lingus up to 4 hours before departure. Avios bookings cannot be managed on aerlingus.com, but if you need to change your itinerary, you can contact Avios directly on avios.com.
Calculating the Avios you need
The Avios you spend on reward flights with Aer Lingus depend on:
- the route (distance in miles)
- the date of your flight (peak or off-peak)
- the fare class (economy or business)
The route is based on mileage, which is grouped into numbered zones:

View our 2024 calendar and 2025 calendar with peak and off-peak dates detailed for the year. During off-peak periods, which are two thirds of the year, you need less Avios for your reward flights. When booking reward flights, you can choose all peak dates, all off-peak dates, or a mixture of the two. Peak and off-peak periods vary per airline.
The higher the fare class, the more Avios are needed. Business/First class flights require the most Avios.
You have to pay a cash amount for taxes, fees and carrier charges. These vary according to travel date, carrier and the route flown. They are calculated when you book your flights on avios.com and will be displayed as you make your booking.

Once confirmed a new Business Class ticket will be emailed to you.
Please note: All upgrades using Avios are subject to availability. It is not possible to upgrade reward flights already booked using Avios. Avios are only awarded on the original economy booking. There is a minimum of 72 hours' notice required for an upgrade request. Only the AerClub member or authorised person who manages the account on the member's behalf can request an upgrade. Please ask the account holder to complete the online third party authorisation form. Once upgrades are granted, they are non-refundable and non-transferable.
