Connecting through Dublin - Terminal 2

Dublin Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Aer Lingus flights operate from Terminal 2. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are linked both airside and landside and the walkway between each terminal is clearly signposted.

  1. Make sure you have all your boarding passes for all flights. If you aren't able to check in online for all flights, please visit our Flight Connections desk for support.
  2. Once you’ve disembarked, follow the green Flight Connections signs.
  3. If you are on a connecting flight with Aer Lingus, you won’t need to pick up your bags, we’ll transfer them to the final flight destination. This service is not available to self-connecting customers who have booked independent connecting flights.
  4. If eligible, and there’s time, you can relax in our lounges. Here you can enjoy facilities including showers, free Wi-Fi and refreshments. Learn more about Aer Lingus lounges.
  5. Find your upcoming flight and departure gate by checking the overhead information screens. Your flight number will be on your boarding card.

Travelling with children through Dublin airport?

Your buggy will have be tagged to your final destination when checking in at your departure airport. You may prefer to bring a baby sling or toddler safety harness with you for convenience while transferring through Dublin.

Travelling to the USA through Dublin - Terminal 2

For flights to the USA you will have to go through U.S. Preclearance. After following the Flight Connection signs, you can then follow the U.S. Preclearance signs shown here.

 

Duty Free Limitations

Unfortunately, duty free goods including cigarettes and alcohol cannot be sold on board flights which pre-clear U.S. customs and immigration. Please review the U.S. CBP pre-clearance prohibited and restricted Items before arriving at the airport.

 

Facilities after U.S. Preclearance

  • Relax in 51st&Green - the new U.S. Preclearance Lounge in Dublin Airport. This lounge is located close to Gate 406 and available once you have completed U.S. Preclearance. Learn more about our 51st&Green Lounge.
  • Irish Meadows CafĂ© is located in 51st&Green and provides refreshments including sandwiches, snacks and hot drinks between 07:00–17:00.

Self-connecting customers

Self-connecting customers are those customers who are travelling on two or more connecting flights which were booked separately to each other and have independent tickets. These flights are considered as separate journeys (point to point flights).

If you are travelling as a self-connecting customer please follow guidelines below:

  1. If you have checked in bags proceed to baggage hall. If you have no bags and you're already checked in for next flight, follow the green Flight Connections signs.
  2. Flight Information Display Screens in arrivals will display your flight and which terminal you depart from.
  3. Proceed to departures to check in with your airline.
  4. Terminals 1 and 2 are linked and within a 5 minute walk of each other, and are clearly signposted.

 

  • 60 minutes - from Aer Lingus North America to Aer Lingus Europe flights
  • 60 minutes - from Aer Lingus Europe to Aer Lingus Canada flights
  • 75 minutes - from Aer Lingus Europe to Aer Lingus US flights
  • 120 minutes - for all flight connections within Europe
  • 120 minutes - for all flight connections between Aer Lingus and other carriers

Note: The above are general guidelines and may be subject to change or may differ on specific routes. It is your responsibility to ensure sufficient time to collect baggage, travel to next terminal, check in for your onward journey before it closes, clear security and arrive at your departure gate at least 30 minutes before your connecting flight departure time for short haul flights and at least 50 minutes before your connecting flight departure time for long haul flights.

Connecting through other airports

We have moved to a new home in New York’s JFK. Since 27th April 2023, all of our flights depart from and arrive into Terminal 7. You can find Aer Lingus check-in desks in zones 307 and 308. Boarding gates are allocated daily, but they are all close to each other.

 

Travelling To USA

All Aer Lingus flights will arrive into Terminal 7. If your bags are checked to your final destination, you don’t need to collect your bags in New York JFK, simply follow the signs for the AirTrain and transfer to your connecting flight’s terminal*. If you have separate tickets, please collect your bags and then go to the terminal. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re at your connecting flight terminal, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate.

* Note - customers connecting from Manchester will need to collect their bags from the baggage belt, then drop them off on the transfer belt after clearing U.S. Customs.

 

Travelling To Ireland

If your bags are checked to your final destination, simply follow the signs for the AirTrain and transfer to Terminal 7. If you have separate tickets, please collect your bags and then go to Terminal 7. Aer Lingus is located at the west side of the terminal. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re at your connecting flight terminal, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate. Our Lounge is just five minutes from the boarding gates, making it easy to relax and enjoy a hot meal before you board.

 

Information for customers connecting from/to Ireland with the following airlines:

Customers connecting to a JetBlue flight will arrive in Terminal 7 and depart on their JetBlue flight from Terminal 5. Baggage will be transferred to your final destination. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re there, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate.

Customers connecting from a JetBlue flight will arrive in Terminal 5 and depart on their Aer Lingus flight from Terminal 7. Baggage will be transferred to your final destination. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re there, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate.

Customers connecting to an American Airlines flight will arrive in Terminal 7 and depart on their American Airlines flight from Terminal 8. Baggage will be transferred to your final destination. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re there, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate.

Customers connecting from an American Airlines flight will arrive in Terminal 8 and depart on their Aer Lingus flight from Terminal 7. Baggage will be transferred to your final destination. You can transfer between terminals for free via the AirTrain. Once you’re there, you’ll need to go through TSA security before going to your next boarding gate.
